[Is that worry? Is he worried? Will watches him carefully for a few moments after that last question, biting back any amusement from leaking through. He recovers well from trauma, doesn't mean he particularly enjoys going through the traumatic, now does it?]

No, nothing power-related. [As far as Will knows. Will hadn't given him the whole truth and come away unscathed, though, so he takes that as a good sign there aren't magical mind reading abilities tucked away in Yuri Petrov.] He was a judge, remember. Don't imagine he'd have gotten as far as he has if he wasn't a good judge of character. Still seems to favor having some concrete evidence. Part of the job. Passing down a verdict without complete certainty...haven't seen any signs that's part of his design. He wouldn't be any different from the sinners he brings to justice if he did it without fitting research.

[So leave no one and nothing that could be used as research and profit by not getting set on fire while alive. Everyone wins.]

[Was Yuri always like that, or did the judgement calls draw out a latent predisposition towards murder?] But as long as you've given thought to the matter.

As if either of us have ever given much of a damn about the legal process. [Easily spoken, amused without hint of sleaze or slime. It's just a fact, should be stated like one, the same he'd speak of any other similarities he and his former psychiatrist shared.] I've given a lot of thought to the matter. Yuri is a friend. And I don't need you to analyze that, I've been analyzing it ever since he returned. I am aware what that means.

[Still easy, a comfort stemming from what felt more along the lines of true friendship—two people discussing patterns, historically, more along the lines of poor fashion choices, poor relationships, poor one night stands. No shame or embarrassment, only acceptance, and with that a quiet hope Chilton could accept it as well. He already knew. He wasn't as far along in their shared story as Will, but he knew enough. He knew the man he sat across from had a knack for those considered monsters, and not just for locking them away or putting them down. Why would Will put up pretenses otherwise for someone who had the ability to see through them?]

Been hoping to get so drunk we'd need to call a taxi to get home. What do you say?

[A less sacred invitation than discussing Hannibal Lecter, but an invitation nonetheless, delivered with a wave of his hand, a crossing of his legs at the knee, and the briefest hint of a smile. This was Will's reaction to serial killers and crazies and alike, those on the loose he had no care for and those he considered on his side: booze. Chilton had the chance to share in that. Or just get reasonably drunk while Will ran up the tab because, seriously, one does not mention going to a bar with Will Graham and expect him not to drink like a fish.]
