He would have perused the archives in the Network, even if Doctor Sofen hadn't advised him to do so. It's better that Gideon's state came from me, so he won't feel as immediately compelled to seek out every Baltimore entity himself right away.

To spare yourself from Hannibal's full attention, I assume.
Which is both unnecessary and infuriating.

Abel Gideon will never be safe from Hannibal Lecter, Danger. My engagement between them isn't going to escalate their eventual fates. There is nothing anyone can do to prevent Hannibal's interest -- I simply presented the facts in the easiest, most accessible way, so Hannibal wouldn't feel victorious in his hunt of Abel.

Hannibal thrives in domination. He becomes most interested in something when it becomes a conquest -- I took that from him, and in that effort, probably bought Gideon some time while Hannibal musters his dampened motivation.

I can assure you that regardless of whatever twisted biology works in Hannibal Lecter's soft human brain, I am capable of being infinitely more terrible.
You should remember that.
