[ This is Chilton. Of course it does. Hastily: ]

Can't I just tell you later? When I'm out? We can have our stupid session and I'll tell you all about it.

I can't get you out unless I know the perimeters, Walt. My jurisdiction is specific, you understand.

You're either not listening, or you're gullible. I'd wager on both. This was awhile ago and it served to reveal what Crane really was. You had left, anyway, shortly after.

It isn't Will's sanity that's the concern. He has made a moronic decision. I've done what I can to help him, but it's now out of my hands.

[ Damnit. ]

I went to the barbershop. After a little bit of drinking. And it was their fault -- they refused to service me. So I took the razor and buzzed my hair off myself. I mean, you wouldn't believe how rude they were! They're not getting my business again, that's for damn sure!

[ Walt was neglecting the main part. The part that really drew this all together in a nice crazy package. He mumbled it as fast as he could. ]

[Oh. Goodness.]

I see.

[Careful, cautious tone here. While Chilton is delighted that Walt fractured so severely, and moreover that he had called Chilton to aid him, the psychiatrist deeply understood the role he now needed to assume. And he would do so with relish.]

I can arrange for you to be moved from where you're being held on request of immediate psychiatric evaluation. You have a history, after all, and I have sway. You'll come to me, at the hospital, and [after twenty-four hours of involuntary care] then be on your merry way.

[Wielding a razor while hostile, violent, and drunk. And partially nude. This wouldn't be a hard sell in Chilton's department.]

Are they taking care of you? Has anyone offered a lawyer?

You've just suffered incredible trauma -- how can you deny me the chance to help you with that?

[It sounded like a selfish protest, and in many ways it was; but this was also the only thing he felt he could offer Raina, right now. That swathed comfort of psychological protection. That promise inherent. His expertise. It's how he could respond, in emotion, to her heartbreaking confession.]

I'd like to help you. Be there for you, Raina.

[ Walt confessed and sounded exhausted about it. He had been pitching fits and tirades all over the place, yelling things about the first amendment and how he was the victim here of kidnapping on a mass scale. ]

But if you can do this, Chilton. I'd appreciate it. Truly appreciate it.

Good. Keep doing as you are, keep avoiding any policed conversations or routines. An ambulance will arrive for you -- don't be alarmed.

[That exhaustion was noted. Perhaps Walt would even be grateful for the impending sedatives.]

I'm here for you, Walt.

[ This is a broken man, Chilton. Walt's expression crumbles which is unseen, but the emotion breaks his voice. ]

I'm so sorry for avoiding you. I'm sorry.

[ Because he probably should have gone. It was stupid not to go. Paranoia. Doubt. Chilton being pestilence. Walt almost getting killed by Hank. Everything with Abduxel. Father's day.

Walt's life was a mess. ]

This is the hardest it's ever been here. And Jesse isn't even here. He's on some stupid trip with some stupid friends. How could he leave me this weekend of all weekends??

Because what I want out of you is far more important than you being here for me right now. I want you to devote that brilliant, scheming mind of yours to ruining Crane. When I'm well enough to be by your side again, I want there to be a plan ready to put into motion. He didn't simply gas me, Frederick. He tried to murder me.

[ Raina gestured to the bruising at her neck. ]

And he needs to suffer -- for what he did to both you and I.

[ Her tone was vengeful, angry, and absolutely murderous. Raina would tear Crane apart without second thought at the moment. Though, she dialed it back a little bit to say: ]

You can also use this time to find us our apartment, so that we two can finally have a proper place. I, for one, know I don't want to see anyone other than you when I leave here.

Walter? [He laughs a little.] What did he do to you this time?

Oh. He threw a bit of a fit on Friday -- something has upset him. Don't suppose you know anything about that in depth?

Mm. I'm aware of it. [So casually dismissive. He'd experienced Walter's outburst, but deflects from talking about it.] But I wasn't referring to Walter; I was referring to your common enemy. Crane.

Oh -- Crane. He hasn't really been on my radar.

[Always the smooth liar. Chilton couldn't risk exposing Raina's recent trauma.]

I've had little need for the same didactic tune. What did you do to earn such a conflict?

That's not what Walter tells me. Are you lying to me, or is he? It's been interesting trying to deduce which of you is less trustworthy.

What does anyone do to earn negative attention from Crane? Do you know who he works for?

Crane was always more Walter's problem -- Crane betrayed Walter, whereas he's but an irritant to me. Of course, I'm delighted to help out Walt in his ambitions; I'm invested in his mental health.

I do know, indeed. Heard it from the archangel's mouth himself. Must be so excruciating for you.

[There's a long pause. Fondly,]

Doctor Chilton. Is there something you want to say to me directly? Aren't you getting tired of this dance yet?

Oh, no. I could've danced all night.

Abduxel.

[When Chilton says his true name, his expression cracks into a smile that he tries to suppress.]

Who told you, I wonder? So many people around you already knew, but decided to keep quiet. Hm.

[Chilton tilted his head, his eyes steeled in focus.]

Who told me? I feel obligated to keep my own secrets now.

[Raina had, of course. Apparently she was the only one he could trust.]

Do you see Crane as competition?

That's an interesting question. Competition for what? I suppose my blanket answer is no. I do find him insufferable and he's used his tricks on me before. But what can you do? [A pause; he thinks a moment.] Your girlfriend doesn't seem to much like him either.

[He has no idea that Crane gassed Raina. His context is simply built with the fundamental information that Chilton and Raina were both ringbearers, unknowing and knowing, respectively, and that Raina herself expressed distaste for Crane and amusement that Abduxel felt much the same. Further, Walt had claimed that Chilton and Walt were only in league as a front against the man. But, that assertion was shaky now, as Abduxel wasn't sure which of Chilton and Walt to believe on the topic.]

[Used his tricks. Chilton glances downwards, his lips pursued. Crane hadn't many tricks, this wasn't a difficult deduction, and when Chilton glanced back upwards to the camera, he did so with trepidation.]

Fear toxin? The neurotoxin he concocts. Is that what happened?

[And did Lucifer know? ... Or care?]

[There isn't recognition; he doesn't know it by that name, or in fact by any name. Dryly,]

That would more-or-less describe the effects, so I'll go with yes. You're familiar with it, then, one way or another.

[Which way, though?

As for tricks... He knows other tricks of Crane's. The birds. That unnatural calming effect. But Chilton hadn't brought them up, so he doesn't either, acting much like the following dance partner who steps in time with Chilton, the lead.]
