[Some people didn't deserve sanity, he wanted to say. Some people deserved something greater. But Walt didn't appreciate the perspective Chilton offered -- Walt still viewed himself as something damaged, someone who would destroy until detonated. As Chilton watched his company speak at him, as he suffered sensing the stares of those around him and felt the needled pain from his hair in Walt's grip, he couldn't help but appreciate how far Walt had come. No longer would the man weep on the Network in his underwear -- that personality was good as dead.

You don't have to use blackmail to control me, Walter. [That's what Chilton examined: the control. He was confident that Walt wouldn't kill him, because Walt needed him -- or, at least, felt as though he did to some degree. That was enough to inspire confidence.]
