A ten thousand dollar watch. A couple hundred grand in cash. And all of this on top of the fee for your therapy. I'd say I pretty much have paid to put imposition on you.

[There's a thundering pause. When Chilton speaks, it's precise and deliberate in his softer tones:]

And was this always how you viewed our professional relationship?

No. I originally viewed it as a means to get close to you, drug you, kidnap you and lock you away in a basement somewhere. All as payback for our first meeting. But you know. The best laid schemes of mice and men and all.

[slightlyoffchilt]

[Needless to say, Walt's confession took Chilton by surprise. As he raced to analyze, recalculated, and frankly just absorb that information, the psychiatrist dwelt in broken silence.]

I -- how long would that plan have worked? For you? You could not have simply kept me locked away in a basement forever.

Of course not.

I would have murdered you at some point.

And when I returned? When I -- [But he wasn't sure that he would return. Chilton hadn't died before, and the Baltimoreans had such bad luck with resurrection.]

Moot point, I suppose. You have long since changed your agenda, as discussed.

I have. I learned you are more useful to me. Alive. I mean, the basement thing is still an option.

[ Gruff laugh. ]

Kidding. I'd at least put you up in five star accommodations by this point in our relationship.

I have to say, I have a difficult time conceiving a circumstance and reason for you to endeavor such a thing at all.

[Said Chilton, once more underestimating his own irritating aura.]

It's not likely to happen, I suppose.

But I mean -- don't be surprised if it ever does. Maybe I would just want the chance to recreate Atlantic City routinely.

Your need for control and compulsion towards domination will never cease to amaze me, Walt. Take that as a compliment.

You are, and continue to be, my greatest accomplishment in this world.

[ The one thing Walt took the most pride in dominating and winning against. Especially because the battle was never truly over. Chilton would always fight against him. ]

[Chilton isn't quite sure what to make of that; on one hand, Walt overtly appreciates what Chilton has to offer. On the other, Walt appreciates that which is offered in the most monarchical manner possible.

It boiled down to a question of ego.]

[There's another beat. Chilton knows there is a correct answer.]

We will do whatever it is you want to do, Walt. Every Friday is fine.

A longer session this upcoming Friday. Maybe the following week, too. I'll be going away with Jesse for his birthday. Probably to Vegas, so I'll have to miss a Friday then.

[ Only partially joking: ]

Unless you want to fly out for a Friday night.

Of that I have no doubt, Walt. You could convince the earth to gravitate the moon.

Or maybe you're afraid. I mean, if what happened in Atlantic City is anything to go by, imagine what Vegas would have in store for us.

Then all the more reason for you to get away for a short period of time. Didn't you just assure me he's going to be distracted with Will anyway?
