Perhaps because I am simply so dearly committed to my patients, Kitty. And yours is especially a unique case, one that requires a tested subtlety.

[ She looks down again, once again flushing just a little bit. ]

I don't know. Is it really that unique? I mean - lots of people have crap futures, don't they.

But none -- or rather I should say, few -- who manage your burn of spotlight. The fact that you will be elevated in such a way, well, that is significant.

[Chilton dipped his chin, seeking to make eye contact with Kitty.]

[ A hesitation. ]

I mean - if it really wouldn't be any trouble...If you really consider it okay. Then...Yeah. It would be - nice, I think.

It would be nice. [Immediate agreement, warm and fluid in his smiling mouth. His shoulders eased back and his spine straightened.] Considering that we already have a rapport established.

[He might have been taking some liberty with the phrasing.]

You do not need to committed to a time right now -- but I will require you to get back to me with whatever hour suits you best. We could do weekly, or every two weeks. [A beat.] Or monthly.

[ She brightens a little bit. ]

Oh - this wouldn't have to be more frequent than that? I thought that this would have to be, like - every day. I didn't know that the time commitment could be that low.

Every day? [His incredulous little smirk can't help but court a growing sense of amusement; it was admittedly a precious assumption, he rationalized.] Oh no, no. Rarely do even the courts sanction that attention.

[Even his sessions with Abel Gideon were more every other day.]

You're a willing patient, which affords you mastery over the schedule. Whatever suits you best.

[ Her cheeks color a little bit at his amusement - but it doesn't seem particularly cruel, so it doesn't bruise her pride. She's just a bit flustered. ]

We haven't got this where I'm from. So I don't really know the...rules of it.

[ Anyway. She lets out a breath, and straightens her shoulders, and firmly makes a decision. ]

Let's schedule the first appointment in two weeks, then. I've got work on most days of the week, but I'm free in the early afternoons. Weekends are better, but I don't know if you work weekends. If you do, Saturday at two in the afternoon would be good.

Two o'clock in the afternoon, on Sunday. In two weeks. [Chilton inclined his head, taking mental note of the preference.] How perfectly paralleled.

[And with a spread flourish of his hands (palms out and exposed), the psychiatrist implied that it was a deal brokered.]
