I would really have hated for you to repeat that trauma twice.

Because I don't already? There isn't anything else but variables, not that I count killing Nathan as some sort of constant, inevitable possibility. But Nathan only ever gets worse, never better.

It's not like I want him dead. It just seems to happen. He ends up at gunpoint, and i'm always holding the gun.

Less in a brotherly love way, more in an Abel and Cain agenda. I want to examine how much of your interactions with individuals of a certain caliber is in part a result of your behavior.

Except nothing I could possibly do to Lucifer would make him disappear indefinitely. It's not like he's told me his weaknesses, even if i'm sure he's got at least one. But what, are you looking for tape recorded conversations?

You're right that literally vanquishing him isn't an option. I imagine Lucifer wouldn't take kindly to the attempt. You know how his type gets with hubris.

But perhaps there's another way. I like the way you're thinking, with conversations. That is an angle of information, a potential dagger we could wield.

He has to like someone other than Crane, right? There has to be another mortal weakness.

Depends on what Cain's doing if he's not killing. Because I don't know how interested I am in personally facing Lucifer's brand of retribution without a good cause behind it.

You want to know who comes in and out of the church? Besides the fan club, I mean. Because I can tell you that easy, but I don't know how much good it'd do. He goes to more people than they come to him and I can't exactly follow him the way he travels.

The people would be a good start. The true believers. As far as the headlines are concerned, they've been mostly behaving themselves.

I doubt either of us believe that status quo will be held forever. And we need an inside man.

I'm about as inside as you get. Not entirely sure how I feel about it yet though, i've still got a room at the church. And a job. Working for the shittest employer you could find but I don't know what else there is.

We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. We're only trying to find some kind of currency with him -- in case we need to use it against him. In case he ever acts out.
