It's the best way to begin the dialogue that you desire. I think the greater consequence lies with obscuring the information, don't you agree? One way or another, he'll find out.

[A light shrug follows, and a small smile is the companion expression.]

[He takes a moment. It makes sense. From all accounts, Erik values family, in his own way. He was happy to know he had grandsons. But he thinks of Pietro, who crankily hated his father, and Wanda, who was...ambiguous.

[Chilton nods. Billy's words weigh aptly, and he considers them -- he gives the impression of such, at least.]

A lot of people who probably take a great interest in your well-being, and his. Or, at least, his interest in you.

What has Emma Frost to gain from you keeping him in the dark? [Chilton quirked an eyebrow over his cup, before looking away.] My motivation is ensuring you succeed with your health and stability. As such is literally my job.

Emma Frost is a telepath, I'm pretty sure if they don't meddle they explode or something.

[A pause.]

She thinks he'll lose it and kill people.

She must know your grandfather in some capacity? And she must know what would halt your familial ambitions. Preying on your guilt so soon is... Transparent.

Yeah, they're on the same superhero team back home, sort of.

Especially since the last time I saw her she tried to mind control me so that they could kill my mom.

Oh yes, well. I can see why you're humoring the idea of taking her advice then.

[He makes a bit of a face, and shrugs]

I'm giving him a month to settle in.

"Settle in" is certainly a generous way of putting it. [Chilton waits a moment, considering.] Are you sure Heropa is the best residence for you? While I advocate talking with your grandfather, perhaps a leisured proximity is advisable. However temporary.

Wait, you think I should move?

Where would I go? I can't just leave Kate here with Loki!

[That's just a recipe for disaster.

I mean, even though they were here together alone before.]

Only a suggestion. [He was quick to douse the notion, rendering it to nothing but a flicker; something to preoccupy.] Distance, even temporary distance, might give you more control of the situation. No awkward grandfatherly encounters, not until you are ready for them.

I don't think it's a good idea. I just got some measure of stability.

[He stands up and paces, one direction, then the other.]

[His tone softens, the vowels folding out like feathers. Chilton watches Billy pace, while keeping his own body perfectly still.]

It's only a back-up plan, only if these variables -- Emma Frost, Charles Xavier -- become too convoluted. You want to simplify this reunion as much as possible, right? [A beat.] But there are other alternatives.

[He turns, looks at Chilton, goes still]

Like what?

Like a third party arranging a meeting between you both. That way you're not all alone, you're not open to as much unpredictability, and you have full control of the situation.

[He pauses for a moment-]

[Chilton frowned, feeling the warmth of a questioning spotlight back over his own flesh.]
