[ She doesn't doubt that Chilton is resilient or capable, actually, but it's usually the sort of barb that gets men to lash out, especially when it comes to pride. Not that he needs much assistance in lashing out these days.

However he handles Will is always going to be a bonus, be it positive or negative. Something she doesn't mind dipping her fingers into, but that's really just a side project she's not nearly as invested in. There are no hurt feelings here. ]

[It strikes him as odd that she doesn't already assume he has a plan in motion, concerning Crane, something forged weeks ago shortly after the attack on him -- rather than one only at the planning stages now, as she discussed. Or was this simply a ploy to provoke him into an antagonistic monologue, proclaiming his detailed retaliation in permanent text, for easy reference? He found either possibility to be but another underestimation.]

[That was a remark that drew his eyebrows into a close knit. While he was affectionate and possessive of Raina, he didn't bandy that word around. Nor was he the type of man people assumed was capable of intensely intimate emotions. Had Chímaira listened in on their conversations, he wondered, which would have provided relative evidence? His most honest moments with Raina had been in private, in her lab, in their house, with close acquaintances -- not in the broad daylight of the masses, in other words. Not where she could have assumed the face of anyone and woven through the crowd to eavesdrop. And most of those conversations had been in person, together.

Except one notable one.

Had she been with Raina after she had told him that she'd remain with the Watsons? If so, did Chímaira have a connection to the Watsons?]

What information are you interested in, anyway? You seemed bored of Crane when I had come to you before. You clearly didn't take that seriously enough.

My presentation consisted of his name and crime. If that's not interesting to you, then you cannot claim to have an interest in human well-being.

[Which was interesting in of itself, sure, but any confidence building between them had crumbled because of that reaction and the fallout consequence -- not that the chimera could necessarily have influenced the events, granted. Nevertheless, Chilton was wary, and now he was tacit.]
