"Hello.
You've reached the direct line of Doctor Frederick Chilton. As I am not available at the moment, you might assume I'm quite busy with something pressing. State your name and business, and I will return your call."

I- I suppose it's regrettable- but RISE is being formed to protect this world from Imports who abuse their power. Fighting other Imports is going to be inevitable.

[He spoke lightly, gently, with the tone of a diplomat seeking a common language.]
Regardless, I imagine you've already adapted to the disjointed nature of magic in this universe. There are likely not as many wielders as you're used to, I would assume. [A beat.] Do you know if any other magically inclined imPorts disagree with RISE? That may be one of those specific inevitabilities.
no subject
Not to my knowledge. And disagreeing doesn't necessarily make them enemies- We're not simply going after anyone who disagrees with registration, or happens to be a vigilante.
However, if any of them prove a threat to people from this world, I won't hesitate to deal with them as necessary- I know not every imPort is familiar wit the supernatural, so RISE may need my help, regardless of my feelings about the individual in question.

[Especially those already prone to heroics. Some of them had a philosophical overlap, and that mixture was bound to prove combustible. Chilton anticipated an equal but opposite response, in fact -- he hadn't taken note of consternation of Bruce Wayne, but if he had, that's where the money would have been bet upon. It's wasn't the magical types Chilton was most anticipating (despite his question posed) -- it was where the influential members of society would stand.]
You sound resolute, at least. [Which wasn't a bad thing.] Have you interacted with many of the natives here? What do you think of them?
no subject
I- quite a few, at school, work, and just through living in Heropa. They're not bad people- they shouldn't have to suffer because of imPorts, or because of whatever issues- some justifiable- that we have with the government here. They ought to be protected, and I understand why some of them are afraid of imPorts, after everything that's happened.

But there was something else that Chilton personally would find concerning. Something involving the other psychiatrist, the one haunting Nonah.]
How do your powers interact with your more extreme emotions? Like -- panic, for example. Fear. How would you describe your ability to function under stress and duress?
no subject
And I would say I can function fairly well when I'm dealing with stress and danger. My homeland is not a particularly safe place.

[Spoken under the guise of honesty, of course, but that was a little bold, wasn't it?]
Let's talk about your known weaknesses. Not physical ones, mind -- but do you have any concerns with regards to working within a group like RISE?
no subject
I hope RISE acts as a way for Imports to police our own- and thus, protect ourselves from both each other, and because without RISE, the government would probably end up finding another way to deal with dangerous Imports- one without any Import control or input.
But if RISE ends up going after any Import the government doesn't like, regardless of what they've done- I understand why some people don't like vigilantes, but going after them like they're as bad as people like Melkor wouldn't help anything. But I trust the Major-General's judgement, and I don't think that will happen as long as she's in command.

One last question, Sabriel -- you're doing quite well. But how do you cope with loss? Personal loss. What emotions have you identified while suffering trauma?
no subject
[Sabriel pauses, thinking about how she felt when she'd realized something terrible had happened to her father.]
Grief, and anger, mostly. When terrible things happen, I want to set them right, but that's not always possible- or a good idea. [Sabriel's felt the temptation of necromancy more than one, but she's never acted on it- not to the extent of trying to revive a human, at least.]
no subject
Grief and anger are natural, normalized emotions. Some of the two most easily empathized with. I daresay that your responses are indicative of a sound and willing mind -- I'll inform the Major General that you are indeed suited to endeavor RISE.
