"Hello.
You've reached the direct line of Doctor Frederick Chilton. As I am not available at the moment, you might assume I'm quite busy with something pressing. State your name and business, and I will return your call."

[ This was so frustrating. It pissed him off. All he had wanted was a break from all of this -- and he couldn't even get that. ]
Jesse said to me, and I quote: "He talked about you and Chilton, your game of tag. He doesn't believe you'll stay away from them for good. Which I guess means he's going to make sure you do."
To which I responded that he was probably coming to grab me and drag me back if anything.
And Jesse said: "I don't think so. I think he wants you for himself. That's the feeling I got from him. I'm telling you something's not right with Will. And I don't think it has anything to do with Chilton."
[ Walt put the other phone back in his pocket after reciting the texts. ]
So mind explaining that?

[There was that emphasis, of course. For me. Will Graham would murder for Abigail, he would murder for Hannibal. He wouldn't make that commitment for Chilton.
Covering up a murder wasn't the same as provoking one.]
He ought to appreciate your value. No doubt he's detected a parallel or two, by now.

[ Walt's tone darkened. ]
And I don't think you realize what's going to happen, if he catches up to me. You're making a huge mistake here, Chilton. One that's not just going to cost you or Will. But anyone, everyone between us.

Will Graham is your medical escort. He is not going to hurt you.

And I wonder -- has anyone ever tested how those nanites hold up to hydrofluoric acid?
no subject
Do not test him. Do not jeopardize yourself.
[There was that risk inherent again; Walt's suicidal ideation. The escapism. Chilton considered Walt's death a corruptible element -- even if Walter returned from the dead, and the odds were good that he would indeed, the very variable of losing his last breath would change him. And Chilton had Walt exactly as he wanted him, right now.
There was no need to alter the formula.]
I am worried for you.
no subject
Right. So worried that you can't let me have peace of mind for even a week. So worried that you had to send someone out here to drag me back against my will.
What you're worried about isn't me. You're worried that I'll start to put myself back together -- that all the damage you did to me will be erased. You push, and you push, and you push. And pretty soon, people are going to start dying for it. And when they do, it's coming back to you.

[A bit dry, a bit callous.]
Do you really think you can undo the progress we've implemented, together? Do you think you can erase what I have done to you?
Really.

[ But now Chilton was cornering Walt, never giving him peace -- forcing him into constant action, and forcing him to kill in this world. Because Walt wasn't going to just go back quietly with Will Graham. ]
Call him off, Chilton.
[ Walt sighed in defeat. ]
Call him off and I'll meet with you. Wherever you want me to. I'm not submitting to being your patient again, but I don't want to have to kill Graham.
no subject
[His agenda, of course would divert from Walt's; while the chemist resisted Chilton's treatment, the psychiatrist needed Walt's submission.]
I could meet you where you already are. Easier on you, at the very least, isn't it?
no subject
You decide on a place, you decide when and for how long, and I'll be there. And if you try to trick me into a confrontation with Graham, I will not rest until I've burned you and him down to the ground.

[Chilton hadn't set foot onto this world's Baltimore, not once since his arrival. It had proven to be something of a taboo, something unreal and unnatural, something meaningless with his own existence wiped clean of it.
Now was the opportunity to infuse meaning.]
Saturday. Clear your schedule for the whole day.
