I was looking for answers, not help. I don't think there's any way you can help me.

Why would you say that? [A mild question.] Don't you want help? Or, at the very least, some mental sanctuary?

I'm so fucking beyond help, it's hilarious. And I sure as hell ain't gonna find sanctuary with you.

And I'm saying you're woefully wrong. [Chilton rolled his eyes, glancing at the clock. Typical heel digging wasn't interesting to him, which was perhaps why he favored the narcissists as patients. They loved to talk about themselves.]

Tears don't really do it for me, quite honestly. I'm not that kind of psychiatrist.

Doesn't really count if you healed them right back up, now does it?

[A bit of a taunt. If one could cloak saving lives beneath disdain, it was Chilton.]

That must relieve some guilt, then. You can't bring people back from the dead, only their death knell.

You owe those types nothing.

It doesn't relieve any guilt. That's stupid. That doesn't even make any sense.

You have to accept your limitations at some point. Can't save them all.

I'm not saying you don't know it on a cognitive level. But emotionally... I doubt you accept the fact fully.

Bothers me? Not everyone is out to get you, or distasteful of you. [Not that Chilton was surprised by the reaction, given Jesse's profile.] And, once more, this conversation is about you.

How do you find yourself coping with said bleeding heart?

I do what I can for people and then I get over it.

As long as that methodology doesn't destroy you before -- [before Walt can] -- your business is concluded.

So what's the alternative?

Finding an emotional outlet. Such doesn't need to be strictly psychoanalysis, of course -- plenty of individuals find outlets in arts, or more physical activity.

[He looked Jesse over, debating on referencing what physical activity he knew the young man was into. Probably best to abstain.]

Something to help you work through that obnoxiously obvious martyr complex.
