Will Graham is a former patient of my institution, although -- Hm. [Chilton is past the point of Hannibal's reveal, and that really ought to weigh in his perception of Will. But there are a few nuances at play...]

Although he wasn't secured for the correct reasons. His alleged disorders were... Misplaced. You might argue right result, wrong reasoning.

Oh. I see. [So that's why he didn't go through the psychological test and wasn't a 'special agent' even though he helped all the same. And that's why Freddie had told him to ask for him specifically.

So he's been asking a man who's been under medical care about someone else under medical care and what they thought about it. No wonder he was so jumpy about it, he must have felt ambushed. Clark ponders telling Freddie he could have warned him beforehand, he doesn't like making people feel uncomfortable like that. Or would that just drag this whole situation on? Hm.]

What's his condition? What did they think his condition was?

Bearing in mind that Will Graham is no longer my patient, and for the most part refused had my therapy, despite the court order -- [Lest Chilton be caught with the "confidentiality" noose around his neck.] -- Graham exhibited symptoms of a unique neuroatypical mind; he had an empathy disorder, with specification. He could relate too well to, notably, brutal serial killers.

[Clark's more than fine to ignore the Confidentiality thing if Chilton is, there's a reason he didn't mention it right away just in case. He might be nice, but he's still a reporter that has to dig for information in any available way.]

I'd heard of psychopats and their lack of empathy but I didn't know the opposite was possible. When you say 'under court order'... what did exactly Mr Graham do?

It's what he didn't do -- or rather, he was framed. [There's a lot less duress to discuss this, now that Hannibal has been ported out.] But his personal psychiatrist -- a doctor he was seeing well before he and I had been introduced. It's... Quite the story.

[A moment of unease.]

Perhaps something better explained in person, as long as Graham isn't in earshot.

[Somewhere, somehow, Clark is doing a little victory dance because this is going way better than he had expected. He had promised himself he wouldn't look into the Baltimore crowd until he had figured out more things about Holiday and the Porter, but if Chilton's willing to talk he's more than willing to go for it.]

Sure, but only if it doesn't put you in an uncomfortable position. [He's curious, but he isn't heartless]

As long as we take the proper measures of protection -- [which ensures fewer, if any, consequences for the doctor himself] -- then I'll find little reason for discomfort. After all, who am I to deny the investigative power of the press?

What measures of protection are we talking about? Making sure we aren't overheard and the like?

I'm afraid I don't have any auditory or illusory powers. I don't suppose you do? [It's partially just a rhetorical question. Partially.] But, in terms of evading Will Graham, I thought we'd simply dine somewhere expensive.

Sadly, I don't... so how expensive are we talking about? I remind you I have to pay it off a reporter's salary.
